Kitchen Doors & More : FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Over time we have been asked a lot of questions with regard to kitchen refurbishments and here are some commonly asked questions which will hopefully assist you.

If you can’t find the question or answer you need, please call the showroom where we will be happy to answer any further queries you may have.

Q: Does it matter how old my kitchen is?
A: No, Kitchen Doors & More provide a made-to-measure door replacement service so age is of no importance providing the existing kitchen carcasses are sound and regardless of whether they are metric or imperial.

Q: How much does a kitchen refurbishment cost?
A: It is very difficult for us to give you an exact quote either in the showroom or over the phone, as it all depends on the current state of your kitchen, the amount of doors, or if you require additional services. The best way is to arrange for us to visit you, as we can measure your existing doors to give you an accurate quote, completely free of charge and with no obligation. For simpler makeovers, a price can usually be calculated on the spot and this can be followed up by an official written quotation detailing the individual costs involved — not just giving you an overall total figure as some other companies do. Also, we always give a fair quotation and don’t get involved in gimmicky promotions which are impossible to quantify.

Q: How long does it take?
A: This will depend on the amount and complexity of the work involved but as a guide changing doors and drawer fronts is completed in just one day. If worktops, sinks and appliances are to be installed then this will probably be completed in two to three days. If you are having a full kitchen installed then this will take longer, as usually there is electrical work and maybe plastering involved, possibly along with other work. As all the doors are made to order, the overall lead time for a typical refurbishment is usually 4–6 weeks from receipt of order.

Q: Do I have to pay everything up front?
A: No, we will only ask you for an initial 33.3% deposit with the order and will only take the final balance when you are 100% happy with the work.

Q: What if my kitchen cabinets need replacing?
A: Most kitchen carcasses last for up to 20 years, so most of the time you won’t need to replace them. However, we can offer affordable kitchen cabinets, made to measure to fit any kitchen design and usually in the same colour as the doors.

Q: How much mess and disruption will there be?
A: We endeavour to create as little disruption as possible and we try to leave the kitchen functional at the end of each working day. All unwanted goods will be removed and disposed of responsibly.

Q: Do you only offer kitchen refurbishments?
A: No, Kitchen Doors & More will do as little or as much as you want, from a simple refurbishment to a full kitchen refit. We can also manage other aspects such as electrical work, gas fitting, plumbing and tiling, all carried out by reputable tradesmen who hold the relevant qualifications.

Q: Do you offer goods on a supply only basis?
A: Of course. All doors, drawer fronts, hinges, handles, laminate worktops and appliances can be bought for you to install yourself.

Q: Do you offer a guarantee?
A: Kitchen Doors & More offer a full guarantee on all products and services given. The doors have a 5 year manufacturer’s warranty with appliances, sinks, taps, worktops and other components covered by the relevant manufacturers guarantee. All our products are sourced from reputable companies within the UK.

Q: Will I have pushy salesmen in my home?
A: No, as we offer free no obligation estimates, this does mean we have to make a home visit to measure your existing kitchen to give you an accurate quotation. But we don’t believe in hard sales, so you will never be pressurised by us to make a decision there and then and can take all the time you want.

Q: Will you just replace one door?
A: We may be able to supply you with just one door to a matching design, but bear in mind that matching an original door is usually not possible and we are not an ecommerce online shop, where you can just buy a door “off-the-shelf”. As well as this the shipping and fitting cost of just one door usually makes it un-economical for you.

Q: Do you supply bedroom wardrobe doors?
A: Yes depending upon the design of your existing doors. Most bedroom wardrobe doors are just large kitchen doors.

Q: Which area do you cover?
A: Based in Bury St. Edmunds, we cover all of Suffolk plus Diss, Thetford and Cambridge. If you are from further afield please give us a ring to discuss.

Q: Can I trust you?
A: Yes of course. We have completed hundreds of kitchen refurbishments and have testimonials from satisfied customers, some of whom are more than happy to speak to potential customers about the quality of our work, fitters and anyone else involved. Being local and completely independent we receive numerous word of mouth recommendations.
